These projects represent an expansion of the existing NICU and PICU in UCIMC Building 1, 2 South. At the NICU, playful clouds over playhouses indirectly light infants in isolettes below. Rocking chairs and wood floors reinforce home and family. At the PICU, headboards with bedposts provide a child-friendly environment in the treatment of critically ill pediatric patients. Facilities are designed to accommodate cribs and beds, and to allow for privacy while maintaining clear lines of supervision. The solution provides a nurturing environment for families and staff in the care of critically ill infants and children.
