This 27,000 SF co-ed dormitory accommodates long-term housing for 272 students on an existing Job Corps Center site, effectively doubling the resident population. A formal entrance consists of a common lobby with access to counseling offices, elevator, and a lounge/vending machine area, with a ceremonial stair to the second floor. The building also provides RA offices, study rooms and lounges, and laundry and utility areas. Four halls segregate gender, establish smaller secure residential communities and support academic and social progress. Supervision, safety and security, and durability are key elements of this design.
