The Long Beach Job Corps Training Center is a 17 acre parcel located on a portion of a former US Navy housing site. This Federally-funded program for the U.S. Department of Labor supports youths ages 18-24 in a residential vocational training program. Facilities include: dormitories, gymnasium/physical fitness/multi-purpose complex, an administration and medical/dental center, basis education and classroom buildings, a cafeteria/culinary arts building, and a maintenance and operations building. A later project has added a Head Start Early Childhood Education Building. The masterplan supports supervision and safety, with buildings constructed for long-term durability.
