A gymnasium, library learning resource center, wet science laboratory classrooms and exterior “classroom” for outdoor science lab study are incorporated into this new 20,000 SF building at the Hermosa Valley 3-8 School. Drawing upon the material, color palette and scale of the existing campus, the new building is sensitive to context. At the same time, a contemporary aesthetic is created through the re-interpretation of color and materials. The planning process has included active participation from community members and District Staff. Joint-use programs are facilitated year round to serve the campus and surrounding community.
