The development of Bodger Park represents a broad community collaboration, including the Cities of Hawthorne and Lawndale, the County of Los Angeles, and the Lawndale Elementary School District, to create a multi-faceted facility for an underserved neighborhood. The proposed Master Plan envisions a child development center, community center, community health clinic and El Camino Community College classrooms, in addition to the existing parks and recreation program. The plan also proposes a future phase to replace aging park buildings with an indoor gymnasium and County Parks and Recreation offices. The Master Plan has been funded by First 5 LA.
